Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An agreement has been signed to establish a regional office of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Uzbekistan.

The signing ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the European Council Charles Michel, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

Founded in 1958, the European Investment Bank is the EU’s leading financial institution.

The opening of the regional office in Tashkent will significantly expand opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation and increase the volume of investments attracted for the development of the "green" economy, innovative industry, and modern infrastructure in Uzbekistan and Central Asia as a whole.
