Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In early January, the news about the demolition of the building of the multidisciplinary clinic of the Tashkent Medical Academy, located in the Yashnabad district of the capital, caused widespread discussion on social networks.

In response to this situation, an official statement from the Cultural Heritage Agency said that there would be no damage to the building and would provide further information about the renovation work being carried out at the site. This was reported by the press service of the Agency of Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan.

On 11 January 2024, the 1st meeting of the Scientific Expert Council under the Agency was held. At the meeting, the project “Construction and reconstruction of buildings and structures of the multidisciplinary clinic of the Tashkent Medical Academy”, presented by the state unitary enterprise Uzshaharsozlik LITI, was considered.

According to the project, at a distance of 26 meters, 13 meters and 52 meters from this building, it is planned to construct 2 bedroom buildings in addition to the “Accreditation-Simulation”, restore the upper part of the building in which the church is located, with the condition of maintaining the appearance and structural condition of the buildings.

The Scientific Expert Council under the Agency approved the project for the reconstruction and construction of the building of the Tashkent Medical Academy (former cadet corps), developed by the state institution “Uzshaharsozlik LITI”, with the condition that the appearance of the building be preserved in a constructive form.

The project summary approved by the council was sent in accordance with the established procedure to the State Unitary Enterprise “Uzshaharsozlik LITI”.

In accordance with Article 24 of the Law “On the Protection and Use of Cultural Heritage Objects” of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a procedure has been established for “obtaining permission from the Ministries and organizations in the Republic of Uzbekistan to carry out excavation, land management, construction, reclamation, economic and other work in the locations objects of tangible cultural heritage and adjacent territories.”
