Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 4 November, Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov spoke at a panel discussion on the development of BPO areas in Uzbekistan as part of this forum. The meeting was dedicated to the topic “Uzbekistan as a new IT hub for IT and business process outsourcing”.
As you know, today there is a huge growth in the global digital ecosystem, especially in the field of business process outsourcing (BPO). This, in turn, requires the necessary infrastructure.
Uzbekistan is attracting the attention of the global IT community as a new outsourcing center. Conditions have been created here to actively develop the country in a new direction: legislation that meets international requirements, talented young people who speak English, the necessary modern infrastructure, tax and customs benefits, high-quality education in the field of IT, etc.
Due to this, the export of IT services in Uzbekistan is increasing.
For comparison: at the end of 2021, the number of BPO companies was 45, and in 2022 there were 135. At the end of Q3 2022, the volume of IT exports amounted to US$82 million, of which US$38 million accounted for the export of services of BPO companies. Also in Uzbekistan, 15 BPO centers have been created for youth employment.
In addition, on 24-27 October in Samarkand, special attention was paid to the development of the BPO sector at the events held as part of ICTWEEK UZBEKISTAN - 2022.
In particular, the resident company of the IT park Revotech and the American company Effika Corporation signed a memorandum aimed at developing new areas of business process outsourcing (BPO), namely insurance services. According to the document, Effika Corporation will provide outsourcing services in the insurance industry in the amount of US$20 million for 2023.
Huawei is also ready to support the direction of BPO in Uzbekistan, which has signed an agreement with IT Park to open two BPO centers in the cities of Termez and Namangan.
Also, as part of the ICT week, IT Park signed a document with ZTE. According to the document, ZTE will allocate US$100,000 to support and open new BPO centers in Samarkand and Fergana.
At today’s panel session, special attention was paid to the issues of increasing the number of BPO centers in Uzbekistan, increasing the export of services, creating decent jobs for young people in the IT field.
