A new tourist transport corridor is being created in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As you know, an important document has been adopted in the tourism sector - Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Measures for the Further Development of the Tourism Sphere in the Republic of Uzbekistan”. The decree, along with other important issues, focuses on the use and development of the potential of highways.

It is known that in order to create comfort for passengers and develop entrepreneurial activity in places located along the roads, it is considered necessary to develop roadside infrastructure.

The development of roadside infrastructure is considered to be an effect of improving the condition of roads and the development of regular bus services, since an increase in the number of tourist transports and their passengers naturally stimulates entrepreneurs and local people to create roadside infrastructure.

Foreign experience also indicates that improving the quality of roads accelerates the growth rate of road and bus transportation, which gives impetus to the development of roadside infrastructure along highways.

The development of the market for the provision of transport services, the improvement of the quality of highways, as well as the construction of roadside infrastructure makes it necessary to study, select and plan the most effective projects involving the provision of transport services, planning the construction of roadside infrastructure, as well as providing incentive measures for the private sector in this area.

In this regard, in order to develop tourist transport routes, effectively use the potential of highways, the Decree creates a tourist transport corridor “Uzbekistan Tourist Highway” from the city of Khanabad, Andijan region to the city of Muynak, the Republic of Karakalpakstan (over 1.6 thousand km long) with a branch to the city Termez of Surkhandarya region (about 370 km.), which will help the development of roadside infrastructure and the organization of tourist services along highways.

To address the development of roadside infrastructure on this highway, a Working Group is formed to study the state of highways and roadside infrastructure along the “Tourism Highway of Uzbekistan” transport corridor, headed by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and composed of senior officials of relevant ministries and departments.

The working group will deal with: identifying sections of roads that are subject to major and current repairs, as well as determining the location of the roadside infrastructure facilities being created; assisting entrepreneurs in passing licensing procedures for organizing entrepreneurial activities related to the development of roadside infrastructure (allotment of land, obtaining building permits); control over the execution of instructions by the relevant state bodies to solve problematic issues falling within their competence (installation of road signs, construction of sanitary and hygienic units and others).
