Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Presidential Decree “On determining priority areas for the implementation and development of a modern management system in the water sector” was adopted.

According to the Decree, the Ministry of Water Resources is designated as the state body responsible for maintaining a unified water balance for all sources, as well as coordinating the work on organizing and maintaining the State Water Cadastre.

The main areas of activity of the Ministry of Water Resources are determined:

- maintaining a unified water balance and the State Water Cadastre;

- ensuring the country’s water security through effective management of water resources of transboundary and inland rivers, sais, as well as the creation

- sufficient water reserves in natural lakes, water structures and underground sources;

- creation of a transparent water resources management and water accounting system with extensive use of digital technologies;

- widespread introduction of modern resource-saving technologies, scientific achievements and know-how into the field;

- increasing the efficiency of water resource use through the widespread introduction of market mechanisms in water use and water resource management.
