Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to strengthen cultural and historical ties between the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and preserve the traditions of museum work, a memorandum was signed on the development of museum work in the SCO member states.
“This memorandum is very important,” said Deputy Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Botir Shakhriyorov. “According to the document, it is assumed that the SCO member states will create favorable conditions for the development of cooperation in the field of museum business, cultural, educational and exhibition exchange.”
Botir Shakhriyorov emphasized that museums play an important role in the development of domestic and foreign tourism:
“The head of our state Shavkat Mirziyoyev pays special attention to increasing the number of new museums in Uzbekistan. At a meeting held on 26 April 2022, an instruction was given to reconstruct museums in their modern form, restore exhibits in museums. At yesterday’s meeting, it was also noted that further improvement of the state of tourist facilities is one of the priority tasks. Museums, like other tourist sites in our country, serve to attract more foreign tourists.”
An important step in this direction was the memorandum on the development of museum work in the SCO member countries.
It should be noted that according to this agreement, work on the implementation of joint scientific research and exhibition projects dedicated to the history, culture and art of the SCO countries will be stimulated.
This document establishes that the parties organize joint scientific and scientific-practical conferences, seminars on topical issues related to the work of the museum, as well as participation in these events of representatives of the SCO member countries.
In addition, on the basis of the Memorandum, work will be organized to train, retrain and improve the skills of museum workers.
The SCO states exchange experience in the field of introducing modern technologies in the organization of exhibitions, as well as in the storage, restoration and conservation of museum items. Also, in the work of the museum, cooperation and exchange of experience in the implementation of inclusive projects and programs will be established.
The memorandum envisages the unification of the efforts of the member states of the Organization to preserve and popularize the cultural heritage, which consists of museum collections of the SCO countries.
By agreement of the parties, this memorandum may be amended and supplemented.
It should be noted that this agreement will further strengthen cooperation between the SCO countries in the field of tourism development.
