Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 May, a meeting with representatives of the Russian company HPBSolution LLC took place at the State Center for Environmental Expertise.

Issues of joint development of a methodology for calculating the carbon footprint and the amount of greenhouse gases generated as a result of the activities of economic entities that have an impact on the environment were discussed at the meeting.

Special attention was paid to the organization of training seminars and trainings to increase human resources for mitigating and adapting to climate change based on an in-depth analysis of international and national studies and a comprehensive study of the experiences of foreign countries.

The head of the center, Gayratjon Mukhamedov, noted that the global climate agenda is one of the main priorities of the state policy of New Uzbekistan.

"As part of the Paris Agreement, we have made additional commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions per unit of GDP by 35% by 2030 compared to 2010. Uzbekistan has set ambitious goals to double the energy efficiency of the economy by 2030. Measures are being taken to increase the share of renewable energy to 30% by 2030, and to develop environmentally friendly transport", said Gayratjon Mukhamedov.

At the same time, based on the type of activity, the amount of greenhouse gases generated as a result of production and specific indicators of reducing the carbon footprint are determined by the project passport at the conclusion of the state environmental assessment, after which measures are developed that should be implemented by business entities.
