Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A meeting was held at the Central Bank with a delegation of the international company Mastercard headed by Vice President for Relations with Government Agencies, Maria Tashcheva, and Regional Director for Georgia and Central Asia Igor Stepanov.

During the meeting, issues of expanding cooperation in improving the financial literacy of the population in the Republic of Uzbekistan were discussed.

At the meeting, issues of systemic interaction in this direction, as well as joint activities in the current year and in the long term, were worked out.

The parties expressed interest in conducting training seminars aimed at improving the skills of commercial bank specialists working directly with customers on payment card issues.

On 27 March 2019, the Central Bank and MasterCardEurope signed a Protocol on measures to expand interaction and cooperation in order to develop the payment industry and the infrastructure for accepting payment instruments in the HUMO payment system network, expand the ability to use Mastercard cards in the created payment infrastructure, as well as joint activities to improve the financial literacy of the population in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
