A meeting was held with representatives of GGGI

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 31 January, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance with representatives of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI).

The event was attended by specialists from the Ministry’s Office for Coordination of Transition and Green Economy Development, as well as representatives of GGGI in Uzbekistan, including Aaron Russell, project manager Gi Un Kim, and investment specialist Catalina Garcia, as well as a number of experts.

At the meeting, issues of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, international carbon trading, developing regulations, prospects for cooperation with GGGI in these areas, a program to support the implementation of the National Defined Contribution (VAT) under the Paris Agreement and other aspects of the transition to a green economy were discussed.

The issues of introducing climate-smart agriculture through the “green rehabilitation investment project” (Aral Sea GRIP) in the Republic of Karakalpakstan to combat the Aral Sea crisis, introduce water-saving technologies and increase agricultural yields were also discussed.

There was also an exchange of views on the development of green cities, circular economy, green construction and energy efficiency of buildings.

The parties agreed to further develop cooperation and intensify consultations on planned projects.
