A meeting was held in the Senate with the Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 November, a meeting was held between the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva and the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Takashi Hatori.

During the meeting, attention was focused on the long-term friendship between the two countries, high-level diplomatic relations, and effective cooperation in various fields and industries.

Thus, Ambassador Takashi Hatori noted that Uzbekistan has been pursuing an active foreign policy in recent years and strengthening relations with neighboring states helps to increase confidence in the peaceful atmosphere in Central Asia.

In addition, it was emphasized that the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Japan opened a new milestone in the development of bilateral relations.

During the dialogue, the parties focused on the issues of further development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the economic, investment, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres, and further strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations.

Expanding the volume of trade, investment and industrial cooperation is a priority in the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan. Over the past 6 years, the number of enterprises with Japanese capital has increased 8 times. With the participation of Mitsubishi, Marubeni, Itsuzu and other Japanese companies, as well as the International Cooperation Agency (JICA), projects are being implemented in the fields of industry, natural resources, and education.

Based on the potential of the countries, the importance of implementing new projects in the field of strengthening economic ties, including holding the Forum of Young Entrepreneurs of the two countries, was noted.

During the meeting, the main attention was paid to parliamentary diplomacy. It was emphasized that dialogue in this direction plays an important role in the development of Uzbek-Japanese relations. An exchange of views took place on intensifying bilateral relations and interaction, broad and effective use of the capabilities of parliaments in the development of multilateral partnerships.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to continue to make every effort to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan.
