Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 November 2023, in Hairatan (Balkh province of Afghanistan), a meeting was held between the Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari JSC Z. Narzullaev and the head of the Afghan Railways Department Bakht-ar-Rahman Sharafat.

The meeting was dedicated to discussing issues of mutual cooperation in the field of railway transport.

The main attention was paid to the reconstruction of the Hairatan - Naibabad - Mazar-i-Sharif section of the railway. Both sides expressed interest in developing and modernizing this site.

As a result of the meeting, the parties reached an agreement on the early start of construction work on the Hairatan - Naibabad - Mazar-i-Sharif section, which will be carried out by specialists from Uzbekistan Temir Yollari JSC.

This cooperation opens up new prospects for the development of railway connections between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, helping to strengthen trade and economic relations.

Both sides expressed hope for further cooperation and mutually beneficial partnership in the field of railway transport. This cooperation will help improve the region's transport infrastructure and create favorable conditions for the development of trade and economics in Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
