A meeting was held at MICA with a delegation from the state of Utah

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Director of the International Institute of Central Asia (MICA) Javlon Vakhabov met with the visiting US delegation headed by Utah Senate President Stuart Adams, as well as representatives of state investment companies, including The Stirling Foundation Foundation".

At the beginning of the meeting, Stuart Adams highly appreciated the large-scale reforms carried out under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in all areas of government, active efforts to create new jobs and improve the well-being of the population. The Chairman of the State Senate also noted that “the political determination of the Head of State in carrying out reforms, as well as the broad support of the Uzbek people play a key role in ensuring the sustainable development of the country.”

In his opinion, intensification of economic ties with Uzbekistan is in demand for Utah at the present stage. In this regard, he expressed interest in developing cooperation in the fields of education, healthcare, information and communication technologies, as well as promoting industrial cooperation and attracting investments.

In turn, the President and member of the board of directors of the Stirling Foundation, Miles Hansen, informed about the activities of the Foundation and expressed his readiness to support Uzbekistan in the implementation of a number of projects, such as teaching English in the country’s universities, allocating educational grants for studying in the USA, and delivering medicines to the Aral Sea region , as well as financing projects to support water resources and IT entrepreneurship.

The Stirling Foundation is a global philanthropic foundation founded by David and Laura Stirling in 2008. Its headquarters are located in Utah (USA). The Foundation works with more than 100 partners in 40 countries.

The main activities of the fund include: sustainable development, improving drinking water and sanitation, combating natural disasters and emergency situations, educational projects; ensuring employment of youth and vulnerable groups of the population; protection of motherhood and childhood; strengthening the institution of family and gender development.

At the end of the meeting, the American delegation expressed its desire to assist MICA in developing partnerships with Brigham Young University and other research institutions in the state of Utah, organizing joint round tables and conferences.
