A meeting takes place with the President of Yamagata University

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the visit of the Uzbek delegation to Yamagata Prefecture, a meeting was held with the President of Yamagata University, Dr. Hidetoshi Tamate.

At the beginning of the meeting, the content and prospects of structural reforms within the framework of the Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy were communicated to the Japanese side, and the tourism and investment potential of the republic, in particular Bukhara region, was presented. 

The first deputy khokim of Bukhara region B. Akhmedov noted the close historical and cultural ties of the two countries along with the current positive dynamics of trade and economic partnership. The need to intensify interdepartmental and interregional cooperation in the areas of “green energy”, “lean management”, innovative development and support for entrepreneurship (including start-ups and business accelerators) was emphasized.

H. Tamate especially noted the sincere and deep interest of Japanese research and educational circles in the practical strengthening of cooperation with Uzbek partners. According to the president of Yamagata University, the Japanese university is ready for long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation in the areas of development of industrial innovations and technologies, agricultural and medical smart solutions.

Issues of launching a pilot project with the participation of Japanese partners, establishing academic exchange programs and attracting Japanese professors as specialized experts, as well as the prospects for opening a branch of the University in the Bukhara region were also discussed.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on the visit of Japanese experts to Uzbekistan in early January 2024 and the leadership of Yamagata University in the first half of next year for a detailed discussion of issues of mutual interest.

Yamagata University is a public research institution located in the city of Yamagata, prefecture of the same name. Founded in 1949, the university has a strong reputation for academic excellence and research potential. The University enrolls students from more than 40 countries around the world in a wide range of undergraduate, graduate and professional programs, with priorities in finance, agriculture and medicine.

The university has its own innovative research and production base, in which, in cooperation with large Japanese companies, technological know-how is developed and implemented within the framework of start-up projects for further practical application.
