Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 November 2022, First Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Laziz Kudratov, as part of the Uzbek government delegation headed by Director General of the Agency for Strategic Reforms Shukhrat Vafayev, who is visiting Japan, took part in a meeting with Chairman of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Nobumitsu Hayashi.

The Japanese side expressed gratitude for assistance in organizing the work of the Central Asian Investment Forum jointly with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

During the meeting, the importance of continuing systematic work with JBIC in the framework of the implementation of social and strategically important infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan in the field of energy, chemistry, ICT, etc. was discussed.

Over the years of cooperation with JBIC, 11 projects worth more than $2.6 billion have been implemented, of which US$1.4 billion are loan funds from the Bank.

The issue of attracting direct investments in the amount of US$500 million in the project for the construction of a combined-cycle power plant at the Syrdarya TPP (1,600 MW) with the participation of IDiF, Sojitz Corporation, Kuden International and Nebras was agreed with the Bank’s management.
