Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the sea capital of Kazakhstan, the heads of defense departments, Colonel-General Ruslan Jaksylykov and Lieutenant-General Bakhodir Kurbanov, visited the military facilities of Aktau garrison, where the second stage of the Kanjar-2023 joint operational-tactical special exercise is taking place. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations in the field of combat training, military education and military-patriotic education.

According to the sides, the joint implementation of combat training tasks during the exercises makes it possible to achieve efficiency, coherence in the actions of headquarters and subunits, and master new forms and methods of warfare.

The defense ministers of both countries noted the existing potential for cooperation in the field of military education.

Colonel-General Ruslan Jaksylykov thanked his colleague for the participation of the military band of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan in the International Military Music Festival "Astana - Madeniet Kerueni" and representatives of the "Vatan Tayanchi" movement in the military-patriotic gathering of youth "Aibyn-2023".

At the end of the meeting, representatives of the defense departments noted the systematic implementation of the agreements reached and expressed confidence in the development and strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Aktau hosted the second stage of the joint exercise of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan "Kanjar-2023"

The joint operational-tactical special exercise "Kanjar-2023" was held at the "Oimasha" training ground in the Mangistau region.

The active phase of the exercise was observed by the Ministers of Defense of the two countries, Colonel General Ruslan Jaksylykov and Lieutenant General Bakhodir Kurbanov.

The first stage in the form of a computer command and staff exercise was held in Uzbekistan in early August this year. At the second stage, practical actions were practiced both during the day and at night on the basis of the Oymash training ground of the Aktau garrison in natural and climatic conditions, complicated by high air temperature and dustiness.

According to the plan of the exercise, groups of international terrorist organizations have become more active in the region. To ensure drug trafficking routes, they created support bases, caches of weapons and ammunition.

The joint tactical detachment of special forces units of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was tasked with detecting, localizing and liquidating illegal armed formations (IAF).

During reconnaissance and search activities, one of the militant bases was discovered. The servicemen of the special forces detachment handed over the results of the work of unmanned systems to the control point. The air controllers gave the pilots the exact location of the target. The second group of special forces, on the orders of the command, with the support of army aviation, destroyed the mock enemy by raiding the base of the militants.

In addition, during the exercise, episodes of leaving the enemy, acting in ambush, liberating and holding a settlement by an assault detachment during the day, blocking and destroying illegal armed groups in a night battle were worked out.

The exercise took place in conditions as close as possible to combat. They involved infantry fighting vehicles, artillery and anti-aircraft systems, Mi-8, Mi-35 helicopters, Su-30SM aircraft and Skylark 1LEX UAVs.

The joint operational-tactical special exercise is aimed at developing interoperability, a response algorithm in the event of a terrorist threat and ensuring military security in the Central Asian region.
