A meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO takes place in Bishkek

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 26 October, a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was held in Bishkek of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov took part in the meeting of the Council.

At the Ala-Archa state residence, the meeting participants were received for the first time by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadir Japarov.

After this, an extended meeting of heads of government took place. It was opened by the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Akilbek Japarov.

According to the agenda, views were exchanged on current economic and humanitarian issues, and prospects for further expansion of multilateral and mutually beneficial cooperation were discussed.

Today, many countries are experiencing the consequences of new dangers and threats. It was emphasized that one of the priority tasks of the SCO is to expand mutually beneficial trade, economic and investment cooperation aimed at ensuring stable development and improving the living standards of our peoples in such difficult conditions.

In July this year, following the Delhi summit, many agreements were reached. A number of tasks have been identified to expand multifaceted practical cooperation within the organization.

In his speech at the Delhi summit, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the SCO is a region of great economic opportunities, a platform and resource base for the long-term sustainable development of all countries.

After all, at the end of last year, Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover with SCO member countries increased by 22 percent.

Since the beginning of this year alone, more than a thousand new enterprises have been created in Uzbekistan with the participation of companies from SCO member states, and their total number has reached 8 thousand.

At the Delhi Summit, the head of our state put forward a number of important initiatives aimed at effectively using the enormous potential of the Organization.

In his speech, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov called for joint efforts to implement these initiatives.

It was noted that these initiatives serve the further development of mutually beneficial multilateral cooperation within the SCO in trade, investment, transport and logistics, industrial cooperation, innovation, food security, tourism, ecology, interregional cooperation, youth policy, sports and other areas.

Following the event, the heads of government of the SCO member states adopted the Kushma communiqué and signed 13 documents relating to the activities of the Organization.

The next meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government will be held in Pakistan in 2024.
