Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A man died in Bekabad after being detained by internal affairs officers.

In Bekabad city court of Tashkent region, a hearing was held in the case of 33-year-old citizen Kh. Yu., accused of points “e, k, l” of part 2 of article 104 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

This article envisages liability for intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm committed by a group of persons out of hooligan motives using weapons or objects used as bladed weapons.

On 19 June, during the consideration of this case, the defendant’s brothers - D. Yu. (born in 1981) and D. Yu. (born in 1978) - expressed disagreement with the court’s decision to deprive them of liberty. In the courtroom, a conflict occurred between them and other participants in the process, and employees of the territorial department of internal affairs were called to resolve the situation.

The participants in the incident were taken to the city police department building. In the corridor at the entrance to the building, D. Yu. (born in 1981) lost consciousness. He was taken by official car to the city hospital, where he died.

A forensic medical examination was ordered to establish the cause of death.

The prosecutor’s office is monitoring the situation and conducting an investigation.
