A laboratory for the development and research of green technologies will be organized in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of scientists from the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change visited the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in China.

During the visit, the director of the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region B. Khabibullaev and the general director of the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography signed an agreement on the creation of a “Joint laboratory for the research, development and demonstration of green technologies of the Aral Sea region.”

The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Aral Sea region, located in arid zones, face similar environmental problems.

The laboratory will promote scientific exchange and innovative collaboration in the areas of climate change response, ecological restoration, water resource management and agricultural productivity improvement in the Aral Sea region.

The laboratory will apply the expertise and technology of China and Central Asia in key areas such as ecological restoration, high-efficiency water-saving agriculture, food security, sustainable use of water resources and biodiversity conservation. Scientists will have the opportunity to conduct research aimed at comprehensive ecological restoration focused on green and sustainable development of the Aral Sea region.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the 3rd high-level forum on international cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road project emphasized the importance of creating a scientific and information platform of “green” knowledge and solutions based on the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region.

In this direction, the center implements various projects in the field of ecology, environmental protection, combating desertification and agricultural development, and also cooperates with foreign partners and research institutes from around the world.
