A joint workshop of International Telecommunication Union starts in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Joint Workshop of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on ICT statistics for the CIS and Arab states began its work in Tashkent.

The workshop addresses the full range of issues related to ITU activities in the area of collecting and processing statistics in the field of information and communication technologies.

Leading ITU experts, representatives of such countries as Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Egypt, Oman, Sudan, Djibouti, Qatar, Nigeria, Iraq, Mauritania, Algeria and others take part in the event.

At the opening of the seminar, the first deputy minister for development of information technologies and communications, Olimjon Umarov, addressed the participants of the event with a welcoming speech.

In his speech, he noted that this event is an effective platform for the exchange of experience and advanced training of a wide range of specialists in current areas of collecting, analyzing statistical data in the field of telecommunications.

It should be underlined that the conditions for the rapid development of the economy, business and ongoing social transformations in our country statistics in the field of ICT can identify and measure patterns of development of socio-economic processes and phenomena, as well as determine the relationship between them in specific conditions of place and time.

Within 3 days, the workshop participants will learn more about the ICT Development Index (IDI), indicators and calculation methodologies and much more that will help to improve the quality of statistical data collection and their submission to ITU.

Also, within the framework of this ITU workshop, it is planned to hold the 39th meeting of the Regional Commonwealth Communication Commission (RCC) Commission on the Economics of Information Communications.
