A joint project of Astrum IT Academy and USAID is aimed at realizing the potential of girls in the IT field

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 18 April, Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov visited the Astrum IT Academy and took part in a joint project between the Astrum IT Academy and USAID to train female programmers.

The main goal of the project is to educate 200 girls in the curriculum in the field of information technology and other fields. The project will support girls aged 16 to 30 who have graduated from school, who have not been able to enter higher educational institutions, who are in need of support and who need support.

“The organization of the Astrum IT Academy is a special kind of educational project for the youth of Tashkent region. You can build a new beautiful building, equip it with the latest technology, but the most pressing issue is to find a good teacher. And this issue was resolved in the Astrum IT Academy. Here, each student works on himself, all conditions for professional development are created,” Sherzod Shermatov said.

“Today there are no barriers to the education of girls. They also take their place in the IT-sphere. For example, it doesn't matter who is involved in outsourcing with American companies - be it a boy or a girl. The main thing is that he does his job,” he added.

“With this in mind, today we are implementing a project for IT training for about 200 girls,” Minister of ICT Sherzod Shermatov noted in his speech.

The project implementation mechanism itself consists of four stages. At the first stage, a comprehensive curriculum for training IT specialists in the areas of English, computer literacy and freelancing was organized.

At the second stage, the project participants will study web programming in depth (FrontEend and Preaseason stage) through the QWASAR platform.

The participants who successfully passed the third stage are transferred to the main course and continue to study on the QWASAR platform. They will be assisted in employment and freelance activities.

And the fourth, final stage of the course includes stimulating the most talented and capable participants based on the results of the project.

In order to participate in the project, candidates are tested in mathematics and computer science. Girls who score high will be able to study in our courses. The training program lasts six months. Training will be held three times a week. At the end of the training, participants who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate confirming their knowledge. They will also be assisted in finding employment.
