UNDP Country Office in Uzbekistan supports the Legal Clinic under the UWED through its project “Legal Aid and Legal Literacy for Better Access to Justice”. The project is directed at improving access to justice for people who cannot afford or have limited access to legal services, including women, children, the poor, the elderly and people with disabilities and increasing quality of legal services through training of law students.
About fifteen teenagers between the age of 15 and 16, studying at the school No. 210, participated at the training, which was aimed to promoting legal knowledge among youth in the sphere of capability and property law.
The participants of the training got basic knowledge on capability, including ability to make deal, responsibility on liability and right to business activity.
Current training also helped to students of Legal Clinic, who were involved in preparation process of the training. Legal Clinic students improved their knowledge in the sphere of capability of under ages. They studied the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Civil Code, as well as other legislation, to develop materials for the training.
It is expected that Legal Clinic will organize similar trainings for youth of Uzbekistan in various spheres of the legislation during 2008.
