Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- By resolution of the government of Uzbekistan, a Fund for encouraging the activities of mahallas is created.

The Government of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution aimed at supporting the activities of the Association of Mahallas. 

According to the document, a Fund to encourage the activities of mahallas is created. Funding for the “Obod va hafsiz mahalla” fund from the budget of the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction is also being stopped.

The sources for the formation of the Fund for Encouraging the Activities of Mahallas will be 10% of the funds from the annual public charitable hashar, 10% of the net profit of organizations of the mahalla system, sponsorship donations from individuals and legal entities, grants from international financial institutions and foreign organizations, and others.

The Fund’s resources will be used to support the activities of mahallas, protect their rights and legitimate interests, develop the mahalla system, implement the principle of a prosperous and safe neighborhood, encourage and improve the skills of members of the “makhalla seven” and other goals.

Also, the Navbakhor sanatorium and resort complex is transferred to the Association free of charge with the obligation to pay the remaining part of the Aloka Bank loan. Within two months, the Association was instructed to open a call center for residents’ requests to improve the activities of mahallas. 

It is also planned to create a media center, a press club and a training and methodological center for workers in the mahalla system of Uzbekistan.
