Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A festival for the exchange of experience in the field of art between the province of Shaanxi (Northwest China) and the countries of Central Asia took place on Thursday evening in the city of Xi’an, the administrative center of this province, Xinhua news agency reported.
Performers from the province took part in this event, the main theme of which was “A Festival of Beauty and Harmony in the Name of Common Prosperity.” Shaanxi and artists from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
During the performance of the “Samarkand Spring” number by artists from Uzbekistan, the audience could enjoy the features of local musical instruments, songs, dances and costumes. “We selected a performance with cultural specifics so that the audience would get acquainted with the Uzbek culture and enjoy the performance,” said Gulnora Musaeva, dance director of the Samarkand branch of the State Philharmonic of Uzbekistan.
Since the time of the ancient Silk Road, contacts between Samarkand and Shaanxi have a thousand-year history, and humanitarian exchanges have always been and are an important content, she said.
Through humanitarian exchanges, China and Central Asian countries are continuously strengthening mutual understanding, opening up more opportunities for cooperation.
An official from the Chui region of the Kyrgyz Republic, Asel Jamanalieva, noted that she took this opportunity to learn more about Shaanxi Province, adding that the province has a rich history and culture, strong science and education, and advanced agricultural technologies. In addition, she believes that Chui region and Shaanxi have broad prospects for exchanges and cooperation in these areas.
The main organizer of the event was the people’s government of Shaanxi province.
