A feasibility study for the construction of a tram line in Tashkent to be developed by February

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A roadmap has been approved for a practical action plan to accelerate the implementation of the agreements reached during the recent official visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to France.

The document was approved by the khokim of Tashkent Jahongir Artykhodjaev.

The roadmap includes measures in the field of infrastructure, urban planning and public transport, as well as the localization of production worth 1 billion euros. The French company Alstom acts as a foreign partner.

The document notes that a feasibility study for the construction of a tram line in Tashkent will be developed before February 2023. Issues of financing the project with the French side will be worked out until April.

It is expected that the localization program for components for tram cars will be developed during 2023.

Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan and France in November in Paris signed a "road map" on the project of the tram system in Tashkent.

According to the investment agreement, the French engineering company Alstom will build tram lines with a length of 9.1 km.

It is expected that the passenger traffic will deliver 78 thousand people a day. Construction is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2024. The cost of the project is estimated at 167.4 million euros.

According to the Minister of Transport I. Makhkamov, the exact routes have not yet been determined. One of the promising routes is New Uzbekistan Street, which will connect Tashkent with the new city of New Tashkent. The line will presumably run from the Dustlik metro station along New Uzbekistan Street.
