Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – With the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia, on 25-26 November 2019, a number of fashion events took place in Kuala Lumpur with the participation of the talented and promising Uzbek designer Kamola Rustamova, better known as “Azucar Moreno”, as well as the presentation of the domestic perfume “Begim”.
This fashion event took place under the patronage of the famous Malaysian fashion designer Jimmy Choo, who personally invited the representative of our country to take part in the fashion show. Jimmy Chu is a Malaysian shoe designer, one of the trendsetters of the world, the founder of the premium brand Jimmy Choo.
During a series of organized events, a master class was held with Jimmy Choo for designers from 5 Central Asian states: Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, a photo session for world famous glossy magazines, and the gala evening “Central Asia Designers Gala”, in Within the framework of which our compatriot Kamola Rustamova presented her new collection “Muñeca” (doll).
The purpose of this fashion event is to promote the culture, traditions and unique color of Central Asia among fashion lovers, fashion industry leaders in Malaysia, as well as to search for young designers to establish cooperation with leading world fashion houses, in particular, to consider the possibility of creating a joint collection with Jimmy Chu.
As part of the final gala evening, which was attended by more than 300 representatives of official, business circles and the media, leaders of the fashion industry, celebrities, trendsetters and influencers of Malaysia, the Uzbek designer demonstrated to her guests her collection of clothes and accessories made from traditional national ikat, inspired by bright colors and modern design reflecting the rich heritage, history and culture of the Uzbek people.
In addition, a detailed and visual presentation about the national air carrier Uzbekistan Airways JSC was presented to those present. A “spray campaign” was also conducted from the domestic perfume house “Begim”.
At the end of the show, the leadership of the Malaysian jewelry company “Rafflesia Pearl” announced their intention to organize a second Fashion show with the participation of Kamola Rustamova in Tashkent, as part of the visit of the famous Malaysian chef Chef Wan and numerous members of his fan club to Uzbekistan on 18 – 27 March 2020
At the same time, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia Ravshan Usmanov invited the maestro and fashion guru Jimmy Choo to visit Uzbekistan and announced the intention of Uzbekistan Airways JSC to provide the world famous designer with two free business class tickets for flights of the domestic airline on the route Kuala Lumpur - Tashkent - Kuala Lumpur
Following the results of past events, the following agreements were reached:
- on the possible organization of workshops from Jimmy Choo for Uzbek designers during the Fashion Week in Uzbekistan in 2020-2021;
- with the leadership of Parkson Elite, the largest chain of premium stores in Malaysia, on the possibility of selling clothes and accessories of the Azucar Moreno brand, as well as products of the Uzbek perfumery house Begim, on the trading floors of this company in Kuala Lumpur;
- on holding regular events to promote the culinary, cinema and handicraft industry of Uzbekistan and Central Asian states in Malaysia with the support of representatives of business circles of the host country.

Uzbek designer and founder of the Spanish brand “Azucar Moreno” Kamola Rustamova said: “Assalomu Aleikum. My name is Kamola Rustamova. Today in Kuala Lumpur, a fashion show of Central Asian designers took place. This event was organized with the assistance and under the patronage of the famous fashion designer of Malaysian origin Jimmy Chu. As part of the show, I presented my new Muñeca collection, where I used traditional Uzbek fabrics and national patterns.
