A driver tried to flee from traffic police in Samarkand but ended up behind Bars
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Akdarya district of the Samarkand region, a driver who ignored a traffic police officer’s order to stop has been taken into custody, according to the regional Department of Road Safety.
The incident occurred on the evening of 4 February at the 34th kilometer of the M37 highway. A traffic officer requested the driver of a Cobalt, who had violated parking and stopping regulations, to present his documents.
However, the driver refused to comply and attempted to flee. A video that surfaced online shows the officer clinging to the door of the moving vehicle.
The detained driver later expressed regret over the incident, stating: “They found me anyway. I apologize to the officer and his family. I deeply regret my actions. In the end, by trying to escape, I ended up in jail. I want to warn all drivers—if the traffic police stop you, it’s better to pull over to avoid such consequences.”
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 219 of the Criminal Code ("Resisting a Law Enforcement Officer"). A preliminary investigation is underway.
