Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A traffic accident occurred in Jizzakh region, as a result of which a Gentra driver killed two schoolchildren.

According to information from the Road Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Jizzakh Regional Internal Affairs Directorate, the incident occurred at 12:40 on 15 April on the road in the Oktom mahalla in Gallyaaral district.

According to the data, a 26-year-old driver from Bakhmal district, driving at high speed in his Gentra car, lost control and hit two students of the 5th and 7th grades, who were going to school in the opposite direction.

The driver said he was driving at 100 km/h and lost control. “It was raining that day. The back of the car skidded and I was unable to level the car. And he hit the children,” he added.

Both children died. The car was also hit by cattle on the side of the road, which also died.

During the investigation, it became known that from December 2023 to the present, the driver violated traffic rules 11 times. In particular, he was speeding.

Currently, a criminal case has been opened in connection with this incident and an investigation is underway.
