A delegation of Uzbekistan took part in the session of the UNESCO Executive Board

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26-27 March 2024, the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Muzaffar Madrakhimov, took part in the 219th session of the UNESCO Executive Board in Paris.

The Board considered the preparations for the 43rd session of the General Conference of the UNESCO in Samarkand in 2025.

The leadership of the UNESCO and member countries once again applauded the decision to hold the next meeting of the main governing body of UNESCO in Samarkand. They highlighted that the Government of Uzbekistan has been doing a lot to organize the event at the highest possible level. The session participants highly appreciated the adoption (March 15, 2024) of the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to prepare for the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in the city of Samarkand in 2025”. This document defines the strategic guidelines for the preparatory process. As noted, taking into the account of the unique experience Uzbekistan accumulated over the recent years in organizing major international events, all members are confident in the successful holding of the upcoming meeting.

The delegation of Uzbekistan also held several meetings with the leadership of the UNESCO.

The current state and prospects for further development of interaction between Uzbekistan and the UNESCO, as well as specific aspects of the upcoming collaboration on organizing the 43rd session of the General Conference in Samarkand, were discussed at the negotiations.

During the visit, meetings were also held with the Adviser for Continental Europe of the Administration of the President of France Bertrand Buchwalter and the Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of France Melanie Rossele. Current issues of Uzbekistan-French cooperation were considered with an emphasis on expanding trade and economic ties, as well as the schedule and agenda of joint events planned for the current year.
