A delegation of Uzbekistan takes part in the meeting of the Interstate Council for Natural and Technogenic Emergencies

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 19 June, the XXXVI meeting of the Interstate Council for Natural and Man-made Emergencies was held at the CIS headquarters in Minsk.

The event was attended by representatives of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the CIS Executive Committee, as well as members of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiaries to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth, reports the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus Vadim Sinyavsky was elected Chairman of the Interstate Council.

The meeting participants discussed current issues of preventing and eliminating natural and man-made emergencies. The interaction of government authorities responsible for the prevention and response to emergency situations was analyzed in order to ensure fire, industrial, nuclear and radiation safety.

At the meeting, the results of the work of the Interstate Council for 2023-2024 were summed up, the progress in implementing its decisions was reviewed and measures to improve cooperation were discussed.

A schedule of control checks of mutual notification of CIS states about emergency situations and a Plan of main activities of the Interstate Council for 2024–2025 were also approved. Issues of improving the response and technical equipment of rescue agencies were considered.

Members of the Council analyzed the work of two basic organizations: in the field of science and high technology to protect the population and territories from emergency situations, and in training personnel in the field of prevention and response to emergency situations. The possibility of holding exercises of the CIS Corps of Forces in 2025 was also discussed.

The next meeting of the Interstate Council for Natural and Technogenic Emergencies will be held in Tajikistan in 2025.
