Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 April, a delegation of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in particular a member of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investment and Tourism Anvar Tuychiev took part in the first meeting of the chairmen of the committees on foreign affairs held in Baku relations between the parliaments of the Turkic states.

The event was attended by members of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan from Turkic-speaking states, as well as representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking states.

During the meeting, it was noted that relations between the Turkic-speaking states are developing at a high pace, and multifaceted and mutually beneficial cooperation is expanding within the framework of a strategic partnership between the countries.

As the delegation of Uzbekistan noted, open and trusting relations between the heads of Turkic-speaking states are a solid basis for the development of bilateral and multilateral relations.

It was emphasized that in all initiatives promoted by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the international level, special attention is paid to the participation of parliament.

Attention was paid to further improving cooperation in the socio-economic and political-legal spheres, promoting the implementation of high-level agreements and joint projects between states using the institution of parliamentary control.

Also, the event participants expressed interest in further strengthening ties and supporting each other within the framework of international organizations and inter-parliamentary structures.

Following the meeting, the participants agreed to hold the next meeting of the chairmen of the external relations committees of the parliaments of the Turkic states in the Republic of Turkey.

During the visit, meetings were held with the Chairman of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Araz Azimov, at which the active participation of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in the Organization of Turkic-Speaking States was noted. During the dialogue, other issues of mutual interest were discussed.
