A delegation of Uzbekistan takes part in the 77th meeting of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the CIS member States

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12 October 2023, the 77th meeting of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the CIS Member States (CIS SRTS) was held in Dushanbe (Republic of Tajikistan), which was attended by heads and deputy heads of customs services of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee and the Eurasian Economic Commission. 

The Customs services of the Republic of Armenia and the Kyrgyz Republic participated in the meeting via video conference. This is reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

On 11 October 2023, a meeting of experts from the customs services of the CIS member States was held to coordinate draft decisions of the Council.

During the meeting of the CIS SRTS, 12 issues related to interdepartmental cooperation, including draft agreements, were considered:

- on the procedure for the customs authorities of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States to affix seals and stamps of customs authorities on transport (transportation) and commercial documents;

- on the training of personnel for the customs services of the CIS member states on educational programs of higher education and programs of additional professional education;

- about the Center of Expertise and Research for Customs Purposes of the customs services of the CIS member states.

The Belarusian Customs Service provided information on the positive experience of the practice of using navigation seals in order to track shipments, on the problems of importing goods by individuals in a disassembled form, as well as approaches to specifying information on the gross weight of goods transported on pallets in customs declarations.

The Customs Service of the Russian Federation submitted proposals for consideration by the CIS SRTS on a Model draft agreement on cooperation in the field of prevention and elimination of consequences of emergency situations at automobile checkpoints at the state border, as well as on a Memorandum of Understanding between the customs services of the CIS member States on the simplification of transit traffic.

The CIS SRTS Work Plan for 2024 has been approved.

Evgeny Kozyrev, Head of the Customs Cooperation Department of the Federal Customs Service (Russian Federation), was appointed Secretary of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the CIS member States for one year.

The next 78th meeting of the CIS SRTS is scheduled to be held in the first half of 2024 in the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the meeting of experts – in the I and II quarters of 2024 in the Russian Federation.
