Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Global Forum on Sustainable Transport began in the capital of China, Beijing.
The event, organized by the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China under the theme "Sustainable Transport: Let’s work together to promote global development", is attended by more than 50 government officials, including ministers, heads of international and regional organizations and large companies.
Uzbekistan is represented at the forum by a delegation led by the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilhom Makhkamov.
Speakers at the opening ceremony of the forum noted that the transport issue is the key to the global economy. Without transport links it is impossible to talk about economic cooperation.
It was emphasized that the issue of sustainable transport is not just a problem of one country, it is of a global nature. The speeches highlighted the role of transport routes existing in Eurasia, including cooperation within the framework of the One Belt, One Road initiative.
