Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 July 2019, a delegation of Uzbekistan led by Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov, in the framework of participation in the annual conference of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), held talks with President Jin Liqun.

As noted by the head of the AIIB, Uzbekistan under the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev is at the stage of powerful economic reforms. The pace and prospects of economic growth remain favorable for increasing interaction with both bilateral and multilateral partners, including international financial institutions.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Brussels, during the meeting it was emphasized that ABII is a reliable and long-term partner of Uzbekistan and intends in the near future to strengthen its cooperation with the republic in practical terms, supporting the allocation of the necessary financial resources to the priority development goals of the country.

The parties agreed on a plan of contacts for the near future. The Minister invited the President of the AIIB to visit Uzbekistan in 2019 with an official visit at a convenient time for him.

Following the talks, a Memorandum on financing a series of development projects in Uzbekistan was signed.
