A delegation of Uzbekistan holds talks in Poland

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 November, during a visit to study international experience in the development of the mining and metallurgical industry, in particular, the creation of a copper cluster in the Republic of Uzbekistan, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Bobur Abdinazarov held meetings with Vice President of KGHM Polska Miedz S.A. P. Gruza, President of ELQ S.A. Marcin Soltisyak, management of DRESSTA and Selena companies, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of the Republic of Poland.

During the meeting with KGHM Polska Miedz S.A., the importance of studying the successful experience of the company in creating a copper cluster was voiced, in particular, the study of quarries in Lubin, a copper processing plant in Glogov, as well as plants for processing and production of copper products in Sedinia.

The parties reached an agreement to continue the partnership with reaching a new strategic level.

Following the meeting, a memorandum was signed between the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction and KGHM Polska Miedz S.A. company.

During the meeting, the President of the company L. S.A. M.Soltisyak expressed the company's interest in investing in projects for the production and processing of copper products in Uzbekistan. In this context, Marcin Soltisyak expressed his intention to visit Uzbekistan before the end of this year in order to study the possibility of implementing promising investment projects. 

As a result, a Memorandum of Intent was signed on the development of cooperation between the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction and ELQ S.A. company.

During the meeting, Managing President of Selena company Ya. Mikhalyak announced his intention to create a joint venture with investments in the production of construction chemicals.

Following the meeting, the parties reached an agreement on the formation and direction of investment proposals to the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of the Republic of Poland, the parties discussed issues of industrial development, coordination of activities and tools to support industries, transformation of state-owned enterprises, development of a new Industrial Development Strategy, including Poland's experience in the production and processing of copper.

The foreign side noted that when developing an Industrial Development Strategy, it is important to take into account the opinions of business representatives, attracting foreign investment, and the production of finished, export-oriented products.

Also, confidence was expressed in the possibility and readiness of interaction on the exchange of experience, the type of similarity of the economies of the two countries.

Following the meeting, the parties reached an agreement to continue dialogue and cooperation, as well as to organize monthly videoconference meetings between the relevant specialists of the two ministries with the preparation of a Roadmap for further cooperation (until December 1 this year) for possible signing during a mutual visit.

On November 5 of this year, in order to get acquainted with the activities of the copper cluster of KGHM Polska Miedz, the Uzbek delegation visited the copper mine in Lyubin.

For reference: the copper mine, located at a depth of 940 meters, has been operating since 1961, the annual output of ore is 8 million 200 thousand tons. The copper content in the ore is 1-1.2%.

The delegation also got acquainted with the underground repair shop, where all the technical capabilities have been created for the repair of loading and delivery special equipment on site, in a mine underground.

In addition, the delegation got acquainted with the process of ore delivery to the surface via a conveyor belt.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited the copper ore crushing and enrichment workshop, where the ore is crushed and enriched to 6-8% through a complex chemical process, after which the ore is drained and loaded into railway wagons. 

In addition, a meeting was held with the management of the Dressta company (Liu Gong), following which an agreement was reached on the organization of the concentration of spare parts in cooperation with the company to provide services for the operation of equipment at AMMC enterprises, as well as the signing of a bilateral agreement to create a joint venture for the localization of road construction equipment on the basis of AMMC.

Also, representatives of LUG Light Factory Sp. z o.o. held a presentation of the company in order to establish cooperative relations with Uzbek companies.

LUG Light Factory Sp. z o.o. is engaged in the design, production, installation and maintenance of various lighting fittings and systems. 

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the visit of the company's representatives to Uzbekistan.

On November 6 of this year, the delegation visited a copper smelter in the city of Glogov.

Also, the members of the delegation got acquainted with the activities of the plant for the production of copper rod in the city of Information.

The plant has 2 lines for the production of a rod with a diameter of 8-25 mm from a copper cathode. The plant's capacity is up to 250 thousand tons annually.

In addition, a meeting was organized with the company KGHM ZANAM S.A. for the production of ore-loading and ore-delivery special equipment.

KGHM ZANAM S.A. has been operating as part of KGHM Polska Miedz S.A. since 1962. It has a full production cycle, including a design bureau (50 people), stamping, welding, painting and assembly shops. The company employs 1,500 employees. Produces up to 200 units of special machinery, 100-120 supplies company KGHM Polska Miedz S. A., the rest is exported to Germany, Russia, Estonia, Sweden and Kazakhstan. The technique of KGHM ZANAM S.A. is used by AGMC, characterized positively.

An exchange of views took place on establishing further cooperation with the company.

An agreement was reached on the organization of a visit of representatives of KGHM ZANAM S.A. to Uzbekistan, on the elaboration of a Memorandum of Understanding and a roadmap for cooperation with the company covering such issues as the establishment in Uzbekistan of the KGHM ZANAM Central Asia service company for the maintenance of KGHM ZANAM special equipment in Central Asia, localization of the production of special equipment by organizing large-node assembly, organization of training of Uzbek specialists in KGHM ZANAM S.A.
