Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22-23 February, a delegation of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investment and Tourism R. Alimov, took part in the winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, held in Vienna (Austria).

More than 330 parliamentarians from 52 OSCE participating States and Partners for Co-operation were represented at the event.

The session included a meeting of three permanent committees of the assemblies, as well as a plenary session on the topic “European security today and tomorrow: parliamentary views on the future of the OSCE.”

During the winter session, speeches and reports were made by members of the delegation of Uzbekistan, who informed foreign parliamentarians and representatives of OSCE structures about the implementation of OSCE electoral standards in the legislative practice of Uzbekistan, as well as the green factor of economic growth in our country.

In addition, representatives of the Oliy Majlis took part in the regular meeting of the OSCE PA Special Committee on Countering Terrorism. During which, a substantive exchange of views and experience took place in the field of combating the financing of terrorism and extremism, rehabilitation of victims of these challenges and threats.

During the stay of the delegation of Uzbekistan, a number of bilateral meetings were held with special representatives of the OSCE PA, during which the current state and prospects for interaction of our country within the OSCE were discussed.

Representatives of the institutes highly appreciated the progress of reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, and also expressed their readiness to provide all practical assistance in their successful implementation.
