A delegation from Uzbekistan takes part in the conference in Doha

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 May, a delegation from Uzbekistan takes part in the international conference "From Religious Freedom to Religious Responsibility: Building Communities of Support and Action", which began in Doha, Qatar’s capital. 

This event, which will last until 11 May, is attended by more than 100 participants from international organizations, leaders of religious denominations, famous scientists, eminent ulema, and experts in this field. This was reported by the press service of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan.

It should be noted that such a large-scale forum was held in Tashkent and Bukhara on 16-19 May 2022. The Bukhara Declaration was adopted as the main result of the international meeting. This document, supplementing the declarations previously adopted in Morocco, Mecca, Jakarta, Potomac and Punto del Este, is an important contribution to the promotion of the ideas of religious tolerance and interethnic harmony in Uzbekistan at the international level.

The delegation of Uzbekistan participating in the prestigious event in Doha included the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs Davronbek Makhsudov, Deputy Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan Uygun Gafurov, a senior official of the Presidential Administration Jasur Najmiddinov and representatives of a number of religious denominations of our country.

The international event began with the reading of the Koran. At the opening ceremony, a high assessment was given to the ancient traditions of interethnic friendship in Uzbekistan, interreligious harmony and ongoing reforms initiated by the head of state. Notably, video recordings from the 2022 conference in Tashkent and Bukhara were presented at the opening ceremony.

First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs Davronbek Makhsudov, who spoke at the conference, provided the participants with important information on the consistent continuation of the policy of ensuring the freedom of conscience of every citizen, ensuring harmony and consonance between nations and confessions, ensuring harmony and harmony in Uzbekistan, providing the necessary conditions for free functioning all religious denominations.

Global Engagement Institute President Chris Seiple, in front of about 20 delegates from various countries, spoke about the relationship between the US and Uzbekistan and said that the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in a short time in the coming years should serve as an example for the whole world.

Also, within the framework of the event, religious scholars and practitioners from different countries are shown the best international practices in the field of establishing an effective interreligious dialogue, advanced foreign experience as an important condition for maintaining peace and harmony in society.

Within the framework of the conference, scientific and practical lectures are also held on the exchange of experience in the development of interfaith dialogue in a multi-ethnic society, ensuring the rule of law on the issue of religious freedom, familiarization with best practices for strengthening mutual trust and respect between representatives of different religions.
