A cultural event dedicated to interethnic harmony takes place in Karakalpakstan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A cultural event dedicated to interethnic harmony was held at the Karakalpak State Academic Musical Theater named after Berdakh. It was attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

This institution with almost a century of history occupies a worthy place in the development of art, the education of youth and the cultural life of the republic. In recent years, the theater has been renovated and the equipment has been updated. In 2017, it was given the status of an academic theater.

Here, the head of our state, together with representatives of the older generation and artists, watched the art program.

Representatives of many nationalities live in Karakalpakstan. Their life in friendship and harmony became the central theme of the event. Excerpts from folk poems, Karakalpak songs "Shagala", "Dembermes", "Nigarym" were performed, samples of works by Alisher Navoi, Berdakh, Makhtumkuli and Abai were recited. Performing the poem of the Hero of Uzbekistan Ibraim Yusupov "Tugishganlik" and the song "Uzbekistan" written on his poems, the artists sang the value of interethnic harmony, unity and peace.

The President had a conversation with Karakalpak artists and representatives of the cultural sphere at the theater. He highly appreciated the artistic program.

Uzbeks and Karakalpaks are one people with two languages. Living side by side for centuries, they became friends and brothers, one people. Today they are walking together along the path of peaceful development and prosperity of the country. The embodiment of this can be seen not only on stage, but also in our lives.

The conversation emphasized the importance of expanding the repertoire of theaters with works glorifying these values, holding tours, returning young people to theaters and enriching their culture.
