Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan opened a criminal case in connection with a road accident in Bukhara region.

On 18 March, an accident occurred in the Bukhara region in which a truck and a bus collided. The bus was transporting students from specialized state secondary school No. 5, who were heading to the drama theater.

As a result of the accident, one of the students received serious injuries, which turned out to be fatal.

In this case, a criminal case was initiated in accordance with Article 266 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, concerning violation of traffic safety rules or operation of vehicles.

The Prosecutor General’s Office noted that during the investigation it was revealed that some officials committed serious violations of the rules when organizing the transportation and escort of schoolchildren by bus.

In this regard, a criminal case was initiated under Article 207 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on official negligence.
