A container block train was sent from China to Uzbekistan along the multimodal route China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 5 July, a ceremony was held for the departure of a container block train from Lanzhou station along the multimodal route China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Afghanistan. This was reported by the Information and Analytical Media Center of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari.

A container block train from Lanzhou (China) set off in 30 units of 40-foot containers with cargoes of consumer goods.

The distance of the entire journey is more than 6500 kilometers, and the total weight of the cargo is more than 700 tons. Estimated travel time is about 16-18 days.

Transportation along the multimodal corridor will be carried out from the Lanzhou departure point by rail to the Kashgar station (China). Further, with transshipment, by road transport, the goods will be delivered to the Osh railway station (Kyrgyzstan). From the Osh station to Hairatan, the goods will be delivered by rail as part of a freight train.

In September 2022, in order to develop the multimodal corridor "China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan - Afghanistan", a pilot launch of a container train started from Kashgar (China).
