Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24-25 May, Samarkand State University and the Silk Road International University of Tourism will hold an International Scientific and Practical Conference on the theme: “The revival of pilgrim tourism at the crossroads of the Great Silk Road”.
The event will be attended by leading experts in the field of tourism, scientists and leaders of tourism organizations from China, Russia, France, Italy, South Korea, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and other foreign countries. The conference program includes reports from more than a hundred scientists, researchers and specialists.
Samarkand was chosen as a venue for the conference not by chance - the city has a thousand-year history and is one of the largest tourist centers in the country. The main purpose of the event is the restoration of pilgrim tourism in the historic city, rich in rare, religious architectural monuments, as well as the development of practical, scientific and methodological proposals for the further development of the city.
The conference includes four sections:
- Prospects for the development of pilgrim tourism in Uzbekistan;
- Central Asia - the cradle of advanced thought of Islamic science;
- International experience in the management of pilgrim tourism;
- Culture and architecture as a reflection of cultural growth in Central Asia.
Conference reports will be published as a collection of materials, which will be widely used in the development of the tourism sector in the country.
