A communique was signed on cooperation in the field of transport between the countries of Central Asia and Latvia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Minister of Transport Jasurbek Choriev took part in the business forum "New Trade Opportunities between Central Asia and Latvia" in Riga.

The forum, organized by the USAID Central Asia Trade Program and the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, was attended by representatives of the industrial and transport sectors of the Baltic region.

During the forum, a meeting of the co-chairs of the working group on transport between Latvia and the countries of the Central Asian region took place. At the meeting, issues of developing cargo transportation between the countries of Central Asia and the Baltic countries were discussed.

During the dialogue, the important role of transport and logistics in ensuring sustainable economic growth and prosperity through the development of international trade between Europe and Asia was emphasized. In this regard, the parties agreed to develop intermodal and multimodal cross-border and transit transport services between Central Asia and the EU, as well as to strengthen and expand the potential of supply chains from the EU to Central Asian countries through the Baltic Sea multimodal corridor.

As a result of the meeting, a joint communique was signed on cooperation in the field of transport and logistics.

Also, Deputy Minister of Transport Jasurbek Choriev held bilateral talks with Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia Uldis Reimanis. The parties discussed issues of cooperation in the field of logistics, road transport and aviation.
