A citizen who cut down 4 alder trees was sentenced to 2 years of restriction of freedom

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Namangan District Court for Criminal Cases read out the sentence to citizen B.M. He was sentenced to 2 years of restriction of liberty and compensation for damages in the amount of 326,850,000 soums. This was reported by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan.

On 2 March, on the territory of the mahalla gathering of citizens "O’lmas" of Namangan region of the region of the same name, inspectors of the Namangan regional department of ecology, together with employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard, carried out a preventive raid. During the raid, it was established that citizen B.M. cut down 4 valuable fruit trees, which are about 100 years old, causing damage to the flora in the amount of 326,850,000 soums.

For a legal assessment of the actions of citizen BM, the case materials were sent to the district prosecutor’s office. Based on the results of the check by the district prosecutor’s office in relation to B.M. A criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Article 198 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and sent to the Namangan District Court for Criminal Cases for further consideration.

This criminal case was considered by the district court at an offsite session. As a result, B.M. found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 198 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and sentenced to 2 years of restriction of freedom. It was also decided to recover from B.M. damage caused to flora in the amount of 326,850,000 soums in favor of the Department of Ecology of Namangan region.
