Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia will become the basic organization of the Commonwealth member states for the training and retraining of journalistic personnel. This decision was made at the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS held on 14 April 2023 in Samarkand.

The initiative to create in the Commonwealth a basic organization for the training and retraining of highly qualified journalistic personnel was put forward by the Council of Heads of State Information Agencies of the CIS. According to the members of the Council, the creation of such a basic organization will improve the professional level of journalistic personnel in the Commonwealth involved in the integration and information interaction of the CIS states.

The proposal was supported by the Council for Cooperation in Education of the CIS States.

In pursuance of his decision, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation submitted the candidature of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia to create a basic organization on its basis. The University is one of the leading universities in Russia, which trains specialists in demand in various media who know the specifics of information processes in states and regions of the world, including the Commonwealth space.

Peoples’ Friendship University was founded on 5 February 1960. Today, RUDN University is a well-known center of higher education both in Russia and abroad. More than 200 thousand of its graduates work in almost all countries of the world.
