Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  On 3 December, a special event dedicated to the 630th anniversary of Mirzo Ulugbek, the great Uzbek encyclopedic scholar and statesman, was held at the House of Friendship in Minsk. The event was another testament to the strengthening ties between Uzbekistan and Belarus, according to BELTA.

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Belarus, Rakhmatulla Nazarov, emphasized the importance of humanitarian cooperation, particularly in culture, as a bridge between the two countries. He expressed hope that the evening dedicated to Ulugbek would serve as an impetus for further cultural exchanges and deepen the friendship between the peoples. The Ambassador also noted that Mirzo Ulugbek’s achievements are an integral part of Uzbekistan’s national identity, reflecting its rich history and spiritual heritage.

Belarusian scholars who spoke at the event highlighted Ulugbek’s significant role in history and science. It was noted that Ulugbek’s 40-year reign was marked by political and economic stability, transforming Samarkand into a major center of education, science, and culture. His contributions to astronomy, mathematics, history, music, and poetry were described as a pivotal turning point in world science.
