621 Citizens Return to Uzbekistan under the “Return to Homeland” Campaign
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the charitable campaign “Return to Homeland,” 621 Uzbek citizens who found themselves in difficult life situations abroad have returned to Uzbekistan, the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
The campaign runs from July 30 to August 30 in connection with World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. As of August 18, the agency had received 2,045 applications: 1,406 citizens were provided with explanations and legal consultations, while 639 submitted requests to return to their homeland.
Among those repatriated are 326 women and 295 men, including 189 minors.
Citizens were brought back from the following countries: Russia — 460, Türkiye — 71, USA — 56, Kazakhstan — 17, South Korea — 4, India — 3, Japan — 3, Poland — 3, Egypt — 2, Kyrgyzstan — 1, Saudi Arabia — 1.
The Agency emphasized that the repatriation campaign is ongoing. A total of 2.08 billion soums from the Migration Fund have been allocated for this purpose.
The campaign is being implemented jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Employment, the Committee on Family and Women’s Affairs, as well as law enforcement agencies.
