The Jinmao skyscraper is a multifunctional high-rise building located close to the World Financial Center on the banks of the Huangpu River in Shanghai. The construction of the building was completed in August 1999.
The height of the main 88-storey building of the building is over 420 m, and the total area of the skyscraper is 290 thousand square meters. Jinmao’s design concept is a perfect combination of Chinese architectural style with elements of modern scientific and technological progress and design. The building is considered to be an outstanding example of modern architecture.
The TV Tower "Pearl of the East" has long been one of the symbols of Shanghai. It is located in Pudong District. The height of the TV tower is 468 m, its construction began in 1991 and was completed in 1995. RMB 800 million was spent on construction. The TV tower itself houses a model of the space module, a revolving panoramic restaurant, and the Shanghai Municipal History Museum.
The Pearl of the East TV Tower has become the first key facility since the start of construction in the Pudong District. In the 10 years after its commissioning, the Shanghai TV Tower was visited by 295 heads of state and government of foreign countries, about a hundred important international forums and more than 300 major events were organized. In 2015, more than 5 million people visited the Pearl of the East for the first time. It has become a window to China’s external openness.
The China National Pavilion, which was built for the Shanghai World Expo 2010 and renamed the Museum of Chinese Art, embodies innovation and a combination of traditional elements and modern design concepts. The pavilion is located on the southern bank of the Huangpu River, its height is 63 m. The pavilion in the form of a huge cantilever capital is supported by massive columns 33 m high, the appearance of the pavilion is in the form of a trapezoid, the main color of the facing is red. The construction project embodied the new meaning of the ancient architecture of China, it is a kind of tribute to modern China’s ancient architects.
The main pavilion of the host country of the EXPO was designed by Chinese architects; the design solution of the building made a significant contribution to the development of modern Chinese architecture. This building provides a rational answer to the question of preserving the values of the architectural tradition of a particular country in the context of globalization.
