Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Yandex Uzbekistan has introduced three-dimensional, full-color models of notable landmarks in Tashkent, Bukhara, Samarkand, and Khiva to its navigation app, Yandex Maps.
These realistic 3D models of buildings and cultural monuments aim to improve navigation for residents and allow tourists to explore iconic sites from various perspectives.
In Tashkent, users can view the Hazrati Imam complex, Kukeldash Madrasa, and Chorsu Bazaar. In Bukhara, they can admire the Poi-Kalyan and Lyabi-Hauz ensembles, while in Samarkand, they can explore Registan Square and the Ulugh Beg
Observatory. Khiva's 3D model features the Kalta-Minor minaret. Each model captures architectural details, inscriptions, colors, shadows, and textures. Additionally, activating the app's night mode brings illuminated details, reflecting the look of the cities after dark. This feature enables travelers to virtually tour each landmark in advance, plan photo angles, and map out walking routes.
“We aim to create user-friendly maps that realistically represent real-world locations, benefitting locals and visitors alike. We crafted 27 3D models of iconic places in Uzbekistan, a process that took over 350 hours. Now, Yandex Maps users will find it easier to navigate their surroundings and view landmarks from every angle,” commented Izzat Shukurov, head of Yandex Uzbekistan.
"In this era of active digitalization, it's crucial to implement tech-forward projects that promote our cultural heritage. We’re thrilled to support Yandex Uzbekistan’s initiative, which allows users to closely examine Uzbekistan’s historical monuments in 3D, greatly benefiting tourism," noted Aziz Abdukhakimov, Uzbekistan's Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, and former Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.
To access a 3D model in the app, simply type the landmark's name in the search bar or locate it on the map and zoom in. For a side view rather than a top-down one, swipe two fingers upward on the screen. Yandex Maps is available for download on Google Play Market and the App Store.
