Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Uzbekistan's national football team made a successful start in the third round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a victory over North Korea in a match held in Tashkent.

The match ended with a score of 1-0 in favor of Uzbekistan. The only goal of the game was scored by Jaloliddin Masharipov in the 20th minute.

In the 40th minute, North Korean player Kang Kuk Chol missed a penalty, which was saved by Uzbekistan’s goalkeeper Utkir Yusupov.

Despite both teams having opportunities to score, they were unable to convert them.

On 10 September, Uzbekistan will play their next match away against Kyrgyzstan.
