Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 27 December 2024, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan issued resolution “On grand celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahmudkhodja Behbudi, the founder of the Jadid Movement in Turkestan, an outstanding writer, public figure, publisher, and educator."

According to the resolution, the upcoming events commemorating Mahmudkhodja Behbudi’s anniversary will be organized at a high level.

A program of activities will be approved, aimed at popularizing the legacy of this great enlightener and his contributions to the development of culture and education.

Key points of the program will include:

The preparation and publication of a collection of the writer’s "Selected Works," as well as scientific-popular publications dedicated to his life and work;

The creation and staging of theatrical performances about the life of Mahmudkhodja Behbudi, along with the screening of the TV series "Mahmudkhodja Behbudi" and a documentary from the "Heart of the People" series;

A writing competition on the theme "Lessons of Mahmudkhodja Behbudi" among schoolchildren, "Temurbeklar Maktabi" students, and university students, followed by an award ceremony for the winners;

The organization of an international scientific-practical conference in October 2025 on the topic "Current Aspects of Studying the Legacy of Mahmudkhodja Behbudi and the Jadid Movement";

A festive literary-enlightenment evening in November 2025 dedicated to the memory of the great figure, in celebration of his anniversary.

All events are aimed at a deep study and popularization of the ideas and legacy of Mahmudkhodja Behbudi, as well as increasing young people’s interest in the history of the Jadid movement in Uzbekistan.
