Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 18 to 30 September 2024, in various locations across 122 countries, including South Korea, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine, the 10th anniversary of the HWPL World Peace Summit will be held. Under the theme “Creating a World Community of Peace through Interregional Cooperation,” the event will celebrate a decade of global commitment to peace by leaders and citizens and explore future strategies for promoting global harmony.

In 2014, the international peace organization “Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light” (HWPL), registered with the UN ECOSOC, gathered over a thousand world leaders from politics, religion, women’s groups, youth organizations, and media from approximately 140 countries at the first HWPL World Peace Summit in Seoul. The summit addressed conflict resolution, religious reconciliation, and the implementation of legal instruments for sustainable peace.

HWPL notes that this year’s anniversary aims to review achievements since 2014 and discuss future plans. The event seeks to bring together regional talents and create networks necessary for developing peace strategies tailored to each region, as well as strengthen regional networks to overcome local threats to peace and activate collective potential. Different sessions will be held at various levels in each country.

Under the slogan “Let’s All Become Messengers of Peace,” HWPL advocates for individual responsibility in promoting peace at all levels. The organization plans to gather peace messages from people around the world and present them at the event, showcasing the desire for peace and unity among people from all walks of life.

Based on agreements signed in 2014, over the past decade, HWPL and its global partners have committed to addressing global challenges such as military tensions, economic disputes, climate change, and cybersecurity threats through deepened regional cooperation and collective actions.

HWPL has worked to build a robust system of peace governance, uniting international organizations, governments, and civil society.

Earlier, during the 9th anniversary of the Peace Summit in 2023, HWPL Chairman Lee Man-hee remarked: “Why should young people give their lives in war? What is politics, and who is it for? When war begins, young people die. Peace cannot be achieved with mere words. If peace had prevailed in this world, there would not be such innocent deaths.”
